  • A little background

    From its founding on July 1st 1953, Ching Shan Language Institute has been providing the students of Southern Taiwan with the highest quality language instruction available. It is well-known island-wide for not only excellent linguistic teaching but also for its personal approach to teaching students of all levels, advanced, intermediate and beginners. Over the last 50 years, more than 400,000 success-oriented students have improved their language abilities at Ching Shan. Many of them are celebrities, central and local government officials, business executives, educators ranging from elementary school teachers to university professors, and a host of others who made the right choice and chose Ching Shan as their ladder to more successful careers.

    In the early 1980's, in order to meet the increasing demand for overseas-study information and assistance, Ching Shan Counseling Center, a full service organization was founded. To this day, it has provided unparalleled counseling services to those students who wish to continue their studies abroad.

    We at Ching Shan believe that each student deserves individual attention. Therefore, we have tailored our classes and counseling programs to meet the needs of students bound for virtually every country in the world.

    In the past 22 years, over 8,000 students have gone on to study in countries like the United States, Japan, Great Britain, Australia, France, Germany, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Switzerland, and many other places around the globe.

    In 1991, Ching Shan expanded its services to the capital of Taiwan, Taipei, by establishing a full service branch currently headed by Mr. Ronnie Chen, a close associate of our director and a strong voice of support for international standards of education.

    Between 1995~1998, Ching Shan joined forces with Merica Language Center and provided an entirely new level of service to students.
    Ching Shan is the only language institute in Taiwan that offers diversified language education, with many different classes to suit an individual's requirement and convenience. Available programs include: English and Japanese (conversation, grammar, composition, reading, commercial correspondences, translations, lecture etc), TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, SAT, IELTS, TOEIC and professional courses (GEPT, English teacher qualification, Civil servicemen English qualification, Military personnel ECL, Graduate school English exam) conversation classes for French, Spanish, German and Korean.

    In addition, field training programs for business corporations are also available, Ching Shan can bring instructors and tailored courses to your place like Department stores, Hotel restaurants, Industrial plants, Schools Travel agencies¡Ketc; to meet any individual's need respectively.

 

 

  • About the founder Mr. Bill Sun

    In 1953, after serving as a Lt.Colonel and liaison officer to Washington, D.C. for the Taiwan government , Mr. Bill Sun, Director and founder of Ching Shan, realized the importance of foreign language ability in the ever expanding world market place, and he purposely founded Ching Shan Language Institute in Kashsiung in order to provide high quality language instruction to the South Taiwan resident; instruction that had only been available to a select few.

    His commitment to excellence has earned him recognition from the highest circles of government and private institutions around the country.



 

  • Awards received by Ching Shan

    Since 1980, Ching Shan has received the Award for Excellence from both Lions Club International and the International Society of Rotarians every year.

    In 1986, the Central Daily News selected the top ten language institutes in Taiwan, and Ching Shan was high on the list.
    In both 1990 and 1992, Ching Shan was presented with the Award of Excellence in Social Education. The award was given in honor of Confucius' birthday by the Kaohsiung City Government.
    In 1995, Ching Shan became the very first language school in Taiwan to receive the prestigious Award for Business Excellence presented by the central government. Mr. Bill Sun was invited to attend the ceremony hosted by President Lee Teng-hui on December 26th, 1995 at the Presidential Palace in Taipei.

    In 1995, Ching Shan was presented with the gold medal for Social Education by the Consumer Association of Taiwan.
    In 1996, the Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence was given by the Business and Commerce Association.
    In 1996, Ching Shan received the Culture Award from the Enterprise and Culture Association.

    In 1997 the award of Gold Medal for cross-century excellent enterprise.
    On November 26th, 1996, Mr. Sun was invited to the office of Taiwan Provincial Governor James Soong for a discussion social education.
    1998 the award of Gold Medal for outstanding celebrity.
    In 1998 Director Sun has also been the honored of Kaohsiung Mayor Wu Den-yi, former Premier Hau Bo-trsun, and speaker of the Legislative Yan Liu Song fan.

    In 2001, Ching Shan was awarded "Excellent Enterprise" Gold medal.
    In 2002, A gold plaque of "Model of Educational Industry" was awarded to Ching Shan by Business Association.
